Sergey Suchkov is a prominent Russian immunologist born in Astrakhan, into a family of medical doctors. He graduated from Astrakhan State Medical University in 1980 and earned his PhD from Sechenov University in 1985. His early career included significant roles at the Institute of Medical Enzymology and the Koltzov Institute of Developmental Biology. He served as Director of Clinical Immunology at the Helmholtz Eye Research Institute in Moscow and trained internationally at the NIH and Wills Eye Hospital.
From 1993 to 1996, he was Executive Secretary-in-Chief of Biomedical Science journal. He held various academic positions, including Director of the Division for Clinical Immunology at MONIKI and Professor at Sechenov University. Suchkov has been influential in advancing personalized and precision medicine in Russia, preparing strategic plans for integrating these practices into clinical settings. He continues to contribute to the field as a Professor and Chair at the RosBioTech National University.
